The BasicBooks Payroll program (BBPR) from LinuxLedgers© is intended for use with LinuxLedgers' BasicBooks General Ledger (BBGL). You must have BasicBooks General Ledger installed and running (including the Postscript Database) before you can use BasicBooks Payroll (BBPR). The menu and selection functions of BBPR are largely intuitive and are built with a self-help function attached. If you need help holding the cursor over entry boxes and menu items for a second or so will automatically cause a prompting or help tip to appear. You may erase data from entry boxes by using the back space key or the delete key. Where numbers are required you will not be allowed to enter letters.
BasicBooks Payroll is an ``after-the-fact'' payroll tracking system. This means that BB Payroll is designed to write payroll checks and keep employee pay records, but does not do any calculations of tax withholding amounts. You must determine the amount of wages to be paid and all the deductions before printing checks and making pay check entries into the payroll database.
