Searching The General Ledger

This feature allows you to search for specific entries in the General Journal. It is similar to the check and deposit search features.

You must first select the field to search in the General Journal data base. You may chose to search based on the Transaction Date, Comment/Description, GL Account, Amount, or Date Posted. When you have selected the field to search you then enter the key words or numbers you are searching for. You may search for either partial words and numbers or complete words and numbers. The maximum size of the search field is 55 characters (or digits). All entries containing the searched for data will be returned. To see the next found item click the FIND button.

Reporting Functions

The BasicBooks General Ledger provides a number of built-in standard reports. These include income statements and balance sheets as well as a number of ways to analyze transaction details. To access these reporting functions make your selections from Financial Reports on the Main Menu bar. When reports are generated you will have a choice of either printing the report on the system printer or saving the report in the Company Report Directory. Reports include only amounts that have been Posted to the general ledger accounts. (If transactions have not been posted they will not be included in the amounts shown on the reports. Only posted transactions are included in these reports, except for the CSV List which includes all journalized transactions.)
