Before you can delete an account the balance of that account must be zero. This means that you must make the necessary journal entries to bring the account balance to zero before deleting. When the account is deleted a record of the account's history is automatically printed in the default report folder in case you ever need to restore the data. It is recommended that you always print a copy of this record and save it.
