Setting Up The Company

Each company must have a unique "Company Code", maximum 10 alpha-numeric characters, which is simply a short name for accessing that company. You should pick a Company Code which is descriptive of the company name, one which is easy to remember and distinguish from other companies.

When you start the BasicBooks General Ledger you will be asked to enter the code for the company you wish to access.

Enter the Company Code and click OK. If the company exists you will be taken to the Main Menu window.

If the company does not exist you will be asked if you want to create a new company using this Company Code. If you answer yes the Company Maintenance Window (See [*]) will appear and can enter the descriptive data for the new company. Once a company has been set up you will use this same window to modify the data for the existing company in the event that there are changes.
