PostgreSQL Database Server Required
Because BasicBooks is a "front end" user interface to the PostgreSQL
database system you must have the PostgreSQL server installed and running before
you can use BasicBooks. The PostgreSQL server is freely available with most
Linux distributions. (Note: SUSE (Novell) only includes the Postgres server
with their Linux Enterprise Server package, not with Desktop.)
If it is not already installed on your
system contact your system administrator or Linux supplier. The
Postgres Manual and documentation with your Linux system will tell you
how to set up and start Postgres. BasicBooks will create its own
database the first time it is run as long as Postgres is properly
installed. Postgres is also available for free download at
www.postgres.org
.
