Overview of Basic Books Accounts Receivable

BasicBooks Accounts Receivable is an ``after-the-fact'' accounts receivable system designed for small to medium business use. ``After-the-fact'' means that credit sales have already been made to customers before any entry into the Accounts Receivable data files. The BasicBooks Accounts Receivable is intended as a tracking system for debts owed to you. It does not include the ability to generate invoices or other sales tickets. BasicBooks Accounts Receivable will maintain accurate records of amounts owed to you by customers for sales or other debts.

It is possible to emulate a cash sales system using BasicBooks Accounts Receivable. If you want to track cash sales simply set up a fake customer named ``cash sales'', or similar. Then enter sales tickets and payments received the same as if they were for a credit sale using the fake customer name for cash sales.

BasicBooks Accounts Receivable is menu driven and contains options for creating and maintaining customer data files, invoice tracking, credit memos, accounts receivable aging, cash inflow projections, preparation of customer statements with notes, and numerous useful management reports. All data files are maintained in a standardized SQL format using the free Linux PostgreSQL database system. PostgreSQL allows you to access data files directly without going through BasicBooks Accounts Receivable. Thus, you can easily create your own specialized reports tailored to your needs and can use the accounts receivable data files with customized inventory or sales programs.
